About the Position

Job Title: Sterile Technician Profession: Sterile Tech Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience License: None required Certifications: BLS, Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) Must-Have: Minimum one year of Sterile Processing Department experience preferred. Must be hardworking, detail-oriented, and adaptable. Description: The role involves duties assigned within the Sterile Processing Department. Responsibilities include instrument decontamination, preparation and packaging, and sterilization. You will receive and process vendor trays and manage sterile stores duties, including picking case carts. You are expected to work in various areas of responsibility within the department. There are weeknight, weekend, and holiday call requirements. Call response time is 30 minutes. Wardrobe includes hospital-provided blue scrubs and full surgical attire. Self-scheduling is not available; however, shift trades are possible. All staff scheduling is done by the lead technician. The department manages instruments for various surgical specialties, including orthopedics, spine, general surgery, and urology. Competency demonstrations will be reviewed and completed with the lead technician to ensure comfort and capability in the role. There is a policy regarding shift cancellations during the contract period. This position requires individuals to have strong attention to detail and effective communication skills. Flexibility in floating within the department may be required during extreme need. All staff must adhere to departmental protocols and procedures while on duty.
