Mainframe Systems Programmer/DBA

Job Description Manage databases including hierarchical (IMS), relational (DB2), and file-based (ADABAS) systems. Plan and upgrade database environments on a county-established basis. Verify the health of all databases. Provide database administration technical consulting for application and operations teams for project planning and development. Maintain production database systems. Perform technical reviews for existing systems using ADABAS, DB2, or IMS. Evaluate and select new or fine-tune existing DBMS software. Consult with project development teams to recommend database design. Develop logical and physical database designs and create overviews of logical database designs. Create physical databases. Perform database capacity planning. Develop and use backup and recovery procedures for databases. Monitor database performance and database space. Conduct database reorganizations, replication, compression, and partitioning. Required Technology Skill Sets IBM: Z/OS, IMS, DB2, ADABAS, SMP/E, JCL,
