Position Title Part Time Server Position Category Part Time Staff Position Status FLSA Non-Exempt Advertised Salary $22.52 - $24.76 per hour Working Hours Monday, Wednesday & Saturday up to 28 hours per week General Description SUNY Niagara’s Savor Restaurant at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute campus needs Part Time Servers. The restaurant provides an upscale dining experience and a hands‑on learning environment for culinary students. Servers greet guests, prepare tables, take food and beverage orders, maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, and support students completing culinary tasks as directed by instructors. The position reports to the Hospitality Program Coordinator. Pay is based on education level: $22.52 per hour for a bachelor’s degree or lower; $24.76 per hour for a master’s degree or higher. Tips are not accepted. Typical Work Activities Welcoming and seating diners in the dining section Taking customer food and drink orders Collaborating with kitchen and bar staff for prompt and correct delivery of orders Memorizing the menu and recommending appetizers, meals and drinks from the wine stock Delivering a memorable dining experience by resolving all customer issues promptly Assisting with tidying tables, clearing leftovers and keeping the dining area neat and pleasant Setting tables and rearranging the dining area to accommodate larger groups and prepare for special events Ensuring cooking utensils and kitchen areas are cleaned after closing to comply with state regulations Performing other duties as assigned Essential Functions Passion for serving customers Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and projects simultaneously Excellent organizational and customer‑service skills Effective verbal and written communication skills with co‑workers, supervisors and students Good listening skills and ability to follow written or oral instructions Ability to relate to a diverse academic community and the wider West New York community Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to prepare written reports Capability to travel as required by the position Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed Physical ability to perform the functions of the position, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds Required Qualifications Associate’s degree preferred, or a minimum of one year of food‑service experience Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Must be able to stand for long periods of time Desirable Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or related field 2–4 years of front‑of‑house experience in a restaurant EEO Statement SUNY Niagara does not discriminate and prohibits harassment or discrimination related to any protected category including creed, ethnicity, citizenship, sexual orientation, national origin, sex, gender, pregnancy, disability, marital status, political or social affiliation, age, race, color, veteran status, military status, religion, domestic violence status, genetic information, gender identity, gender expression or perceived gender.
