PRN Clinical Pharmacist

PAM Rehabilitation Hospital of Clear Lake provides physical rehabilitation services. The pharmacy operates Monday‑Friday, 8:00am‑4:30pm. This position covers open hours, PTO and on‑call duties as needed. Job Summary As a Pharmacist II in a hospital system pharmacy outsourced to Cardinal Health, you will adjust and dispense medication, verify physician orders using the pharmacy information system, provide patient education, supervise pharmacy technicians, and handle compliance tasks related to accreditation, narcotics control, and inventory management. Responsibilities Apply expert knowledge of drugs and protocols to verify physician orders, checking drug, dose, and automated alerts. Supervise pharmacy technicians, ensuring compliance with state regulations and providing guidance on complex prescriptions and automation systems. Adjust drug dosages according to established protocols, considering patient condition and concurrent medications. Perform clinical tasks related to antimicrobial stewardship. Educate patients on proper medication use, especially when multiple medications are involved or during discharge. Manage narcotics and inventory control, completing documentation and checklists. Audit outdated medications where pharmacy technicians are not authorized. Contact nurses and physicians to verify orders or obtain additional information. Assist the Pharmacy Director with accreditation maintenance and operational changes such as new systems or procedure adjustments. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required. Good standing licensed pharmacist in the state of Texas. IV certification required. In‑patient/hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred. Flexibility to work various shifts and on‑call as needed. Strong communication skills; able to hear, write, and speak clearly. Strong customer service orientation. Computer savvy, able to learn and operate multiple pharmacy information systems. Vendor credentialing may be required. Work on projects of moderate scope and complexity, identify solutions to technical problems, apply judgment within defined parameters, and receive general guidance. Work is reviewed for sound reasoning and accuracy. Compensation and Benefits Pay rate: $65.00 per hour. No bonus, but paid time off in compliance with applicable laws.
