RN Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum. This role involves managing patient care with a 1:2 patient ratio, administering medications, performing assessments, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. The nurse will float between similar units as needed and must maintain required certifications. Strong communication and clinical skills are essential, with a minimum of two years of experience required.

Responsibilities:

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in Labor and Delivery or related acute care settings.
  • Active California state Registered Nurse license.
  • Current certifications in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and Advanced AWHONN.
  • LA Fire Card certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically Epic.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience working in a Magnet facility or similar acute care hospital setting.
  • Familiarity with Labor & Delivery and Operating Room scrub protocols.
  • Previous experience with floating between similar units.
Special Considerations:

  • No weekend work requirement.
  • Floating between like units is required.
  • Block scheduling may be implemented at the manager's discretion.
  • Requested Time Off (RTO) restrictions apply and must be included at submission.
  • Facility may call off staff once per two-week pay period.
  • First-time travel nurses are accepted.
  • Scrub color is flexible; L/D and OR scrubs are provided.
  • Free parking is available at the facility.
Scheduling:

  • Start date is ASAP.
  • Work schedule is based on block scheduling, subject to manager's discretion.
  • Shifts are typically day or night as assigned; specific shift details not provided.
  • No on-call requirement.
