Accounting Manager

Lisa Cole with Robert Half is working with a growing company that is adding an Accounting Manager to the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, leadership experience as well has experience managing sales and use tax reporting for multiple states. This is an in the office position based in Sacramento. Key ResponsibilitiesOversee accounting functions and support accurate, timely financial reporting.Take a hands-on role in month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.Review work and appropriately allocate responsibilities across the accounting team.Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies.Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff.Lead multi-state sales and use tax compliance, reporting, filings, and reconciliations.Serve as the internal subject matter expert on sales and use tax matters.Research and interpret multi-state contractor, manufacturer, retailer, and fabrication tax regulations.Maintain exemption and resale certificates, business registrations, and tax documentation.Determine tax treatment for furnish-only and furnish-and-install contracts.Identify manufacturing exemptions, tax incentives, and tax-saving opportunities.Lead state and local sales and use tax audits and manage responses, appeals, and refund claims.
