The role supports domestic and international projects throughout Process Design Package (PDP), Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), and detailed engineering phases.The position works closely with project teams, vendors, clients, and multidiscipline engineering organizations to develop furnace engineering deliverables, support procurement activities, review vendor documentation, and resolve technical issues throughout project execution.In addition, the Principal Engineer – Furnaces serves as a technical authority for furnace mechanical engineering activities, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, code requirements, company procedures, and project objectives.Functional ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical engineering activities associated with proprietary olefins pyrolysis furnace projectsLead furnace mechanical discipline efforts during PDP, FEED, and detailed engineering phasesPrepare material requisitions for furnace equipment and componentsDevelop mechanical datasheets, specifications, scope of supply documentation, and bills of materialReview and evaluate vendor drawings and technical documentationPerform technical reviews and engineering assessments related to furnace equipment and systemsSupport procurement activities through technical bid evaluations and vendor engagementsProvide engineering support by responding to technical questions and requestsSupport field activities and provide technical assistance to resolve project-related issuesSupport project execution for both domestic and international furnace projectsLeadership / Management ResponsibilitiesLead the furnace mechanical discipline team on assigned projectsProvide technical guidance and mentoring to engineering personnelCoordinate furnace engineering activities with project teams and other engineering disciplinesSupport project decision-making through technical recommendations and engineering expertiseFacilitate communication between engineering, procurement, vendors, and project stakeholdersPromote engineering best practices and technical consistency across furnace projectsAct as a subject matter expert for furnace mechanical engineering systems and equipmentCompliance / Operational ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with applicable government regulations, engineering codes, and industry standardsEnsure adherence to company quality assurance requirements, policies, and proceduresMonitor engineering deliverables for quality, completeness, and complianceIdentify project scope changes, deviations, and technical risks and communicate findings to project teamsMaintain engineering documentation and records in accordance with project requirementsSupport technical reviews and quality control processes throughout project executionEnsure furnace designs comply with applicable ASME and API requirementsQualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited universityMinimum 5–8 years of relevant engineering experienceExperience reviewing engineering specificationsExperience preparing material requisitionsExperience performing technical bid evaluationsExperience reviewing vendor drawings and technical documentationKnowledge of ASME Codes and applicable API standards, including:ASME B31.3ASME B31.1ASME Section IASME Section VIIIAPI 530API 560Proficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsStrong technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilitiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseExperience with olefins pyrolysis furnace engineeringExperience supporting international EPC projectsProfessional licensure within the United StatesRole Specific Knowledge & SkillsFurnace mechanical engineeringOlefins pyrolysis furnace technologyMechanical equipment designEngineering specifications and datasheetsTechnical bid evaluationsMaterial requisitionsVendor document reviewASME CodesAPI StandardsField engineering supportMultidiscipline project coordinationTechnical leadership and mentoringWorking ConditionsOffice-based engineering roleSupport of domestic and international project execution activitiesFrequent interaction with project teams, vendors, procurement personnel, and engineering stakeholdersParticipation in technical reviews, project meetings, and engineering evaluationsOccasional field support activities may be requiredAdditional InformationNo sponsorship or relocation assistance available.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
