As part of Marmon Rail (a Berkshire Hathaway company), we operate a growing network of facilities and field service teams across North America, supporting customers in transportation, energy, and manufacturing. We are looking for a Field Operations Supervisor to lead site-level operations, drive performance, and build high-performing teams. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about safety, quality, and operational excellence. What You’ll Do: This role is responsible for overseeing daily railcar repair operations while leading a skilled workforce and ensuring alignment with customer expectations. On Any Given Day, You Will: Lead site operations with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity Conduct daily site walks to monitor work progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance Drive performance against key metrics including turnaround time, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction Manage staffing through recruitment, scheduling, training, and workforce planning Facilitate daily team huddles (toolbox talks) to align on safety and production goals Ensure accurate and timely repair tracking, reporting, and customer updates Monitor and report KPIs including productivity, turnaround, and cost metrics Participate in and support safety and quality audits Oversee billing accuracy and timely completion Support employee development, onboarding, and training initiatives Lead and reinforce continuous improvement and visual management practices What Makes This Role Different: Leadership Impact - Directly influence site performance, culture, and team success Operational Ownership - Full responsibility for site execution and customer delivery Growth Opportunity - Career paths across Transco, Marmon Rail, and 100+ Marmon companies Dynamic Environment - Every day brings new challenges in a fast-paced operation What We’re Looking For: We’re seeking a strong, hands-on leader with a passion for safety, team development, and operational performance. Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent Previous supervisory or leadership experience Strong knowledge of safety practices and quality standards Ability to manage teams, schedules, and production priorities Strong communication and problem-solving skills Experience working with KPIs, reporting, and operational metrics Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or some college Experience in railcar repair, manufacturing, or industrial environments Background in multi-site or customer-facing operations Experience with continuous improvement methodologies Supervisory Responsibility: Directly manages site employees and daily operations Responsible for hiring, training, performance management, and employee development Leads disciplinary actions and conflict resolution in accordance with company policies Work Environment: Combination of field and office-based work Regular time spent in a railcar repair facility environment Exposure to industrial conditions (noise, weather, equipment movement) Physical activity including walking, climbing, and light lifting May require extended hours based on operational needs Site Specific Details: (To be customized per posting/location) Location: Baytown, Texas Shift: First Shift 6:30am - 3pm Monday - Friday Compensation: $80,000 Travel Requirements: Occasional Daily Travel Compensation & Benefits We know this role requires skill, flexibility, and commitment, and we compensate accordingly.
