Role: Mailroom Associate

Location: New York, NY 10011

Duration: 2 Month Schedule: 6-day work week (8 hours MON, 8 hours TUES, 8 hours WED/THURS/- 4 hours FRI, 4 hours SAT) - we will basically stagger the 4 hour shifts so each day a different person M-Fri works the 4 hours shift to work on Saturday

This position will support The New School in 3 student mail rooms, all within a 10-minute walk from one another. They receive mail and sort it into the student mail boxes once a day. Packages come in from numerous carriers such as US Post office, Federal Express, Client and Amazon; once received, they scan in the packages and hold them until the student picks up. Candidates must be able to lift 50 pounds and use a scanner, and computer and be able to send professional emails-work in a fast-paced structure

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, and distribute incoming student mail.
• Process packages from USPS, FedEx, Client, Amazon, and other carriers.
• Scan incoming packages into the tracking system.
• Assist students with package pickup.
• Perform shipping and receiving duties.
• Operate scanners, computers, Microsoft Office, and email.
• Complete copying, scanning, printing, and document imaging tasks.
• Perform binding, finishing, and filing as needed.
• Maintain mailroom, copier, and office supply areas.
• Respond to customer service requests professionally.
• Maintain records, inventory, and service logs.
• Travel between the three campus mailroom locations.
• Assist with conference room setups and general office support when required.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years of experience in mailroom, office services, shipping/receiving, print production, or customer service.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using scanners and office equipment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Good organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
