What You Will Do: GFT is seeking a Technical Agreement Specialist to join our Roadway Team in Schaumburg, IL. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at the District 1 IDOT office in Schaumburg, IL. What you'll be challenged to do: Our Schaumburg office seeks a Technical Agreement Specialist to join our growing office of roadway, highway, structural, transit, rail, and intermodal designers and construction inspectors. The role leads preparation and coordination of roadway agreements between IDOT and Municipal and Agency partners as part of a Program Management role. The position is full‑time (40 hours a week) with work in the IDOT District One office. Documents may include agreements, jurisdictional transfer documents and letters of understanding. Preferred candidates have a background in preliminary engineering, plan development or construction engineering. The individual must communicate verbally and in writing at a high level, work closely with other teams on multi‑disciplinary projects, work independently, and lead project agreement with other bureaus. Responsibilities: Lead coordination of roadway plan drawings, quantities, and related costs for items of local participation, maintenance and jurisdiction. Provide direction to Project Engineers and Staff Engineers regarding expected results. Analyze information and data to perform routine design tasks. Make independent decisions on engineering problems and represent the organization in meetings to resolve questions and plan work. Follow IDOT agreement policy, communicating policy to IDOT staff and public partners; understand and read engineering design plans and specifications. Work in a Microsoft computer environment. Manage workload and adjust to changes in project schedule, scope, or additional services. Education and Experience: Minimum 5 years of related, in‑field experience, including work directly or as a consultant for IDOT, the Illinois Tollway, Chicago DOT, Cook County Department of Transportation & Highways, or local counties and municipalities, and with federally funded projects. BS desirable but not required. Strong technical, verbal and written communication skills; ability to work well in a team on multi‑disciplinary projects. Preferred experience on projects with railroad coordination and inspection of roadway/railroad work in the field. Preferred experience in highway, drainage, construction inspection, track, traffic signal, and/or lighting. Illinois Driver's License required. What we prefer: Background in preliminary engineering, plan development, or construction engineering. Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this role is $85,000 – $125,000, depending on experience and geographic location.
