Locums Emergency Medicine Physician

We are seeking a Locums Emergency Medicine Physician to provide coverage in Overland Park, Kansas.

Schedule: 

•       Rotational shifts (morning, mid, night; varied hours)

•       9-hour shifts, including weekends and nights as needed

•       No call coverage required

•       Orientation: 2-day shadow period with EMR training

Position Details:

•       9-hour shifts 

•       Day and night coverage needed 

•       Minimum 2 years of EM experience 

•       ABEM required 

•       2 shadow/orientation shifts 

•       Fast-paced, high-efficiency ED 

Emergency Department:

•       24 ED beds + 7 vertical pathway spaces + 2 intake rooms 

•       Volume: 1.6–1.8 patients/hour 

•       Primarily ESI 2s and 3s 

•       Level II Trauma Center 

•       Nurse/APP triage for lower-acuity patients 

•       ~35% admission rate 

•       Minimum daytime staffing: 1 physician + 1 APP 

•       Standard ER support staff 

Facility Highlights:

•       190-bed acute care hospital serving Overland Park and Leawood

•       Accredited Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center with rapid response protocols

•       Advanced technology, including remote ECG monitoring and electronic medication management

•       Support staff includes critical care nurses, techs, and APPs

•       Not a trauma center; focuses on standard EM cases (e.g., cardiac, stroke, infections, minor injuries)

•       Annual ER visits: Approximately 40,000

•       Diverse patient population in a vibrant, affluent community

Additional Details:

•       Position will primarily be at the main ED 

•       Two associated FSERs see approximately 13–17 patients/day each 

•       Some hours may potentially be allocated to the FSERs, TBD

Extras:

•      All travel (flights, hotel, rental or mileage on personal, tolls, parking, etc) will be reimbursed 100% on top of the rate.

Dedicated 24/7 locums consultant to manage credentialing and schedule shifts

Requirements:

ABEM board certification required

Minimum 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience

Active Kansas medical license required

DEA required
