Job Summary Purchasing Agent – Anchorage, Alaska – Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Non-Exempt, Full‑Time, Day Shift. Compensation: $39.08 per hour. Coordinate with managers to maintain inventory levels. Evaluate vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history. Work with appropriate teams to forecast the level of demand for services and products to meet business needs. Continuously analyze inventory usage and balances. Ensure that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions. Manage day‑to‑day business relationships with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/volume/delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end user feedback, and follow‑up on backorders. Maintain pricing history and other vendor records. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in purchasing, finance, or business preferred. Three (3) years of purchasing experience preferred. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time. May require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking; standing or sitting for several hours; climbing in and out of a vehicle; and up and down stairs. Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time. Driver’s License and Security Clearance A valid state driver’s license is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance. Access to the federal military installation requires a Real‑ID compliant driver’s license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the Real‑ID Act. Must obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
