Job Description

Join a dedicated maintenance team as a 1st shift diesel technician, where you will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment. You will diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines and related systems, ensure equipment reliability, and help keep operations running safely and efficiently with a high degree of autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engine, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to identify root causes of issues.
  • Inspect, service, and repair engines, brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, transmissions, and other major components.
  • Complete oil changes, lubrication services, and fluid inspections according to maintenance schedules and manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair documentation for all serviced equipment.
  • Manage and organize parts inventory, tools, and shop supplies to support efficient repair and maintenance activities.
  • Follow DOT, OSHA, and internal safety requirements, procedures, and standards at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in both shop and yard areas.
  • Proactively identify equipment issues and potential failures to minimize downtime and improve overall fleet reliability.
  • Assist with facility maintenance and equipment repairs as needed to support overall operations.
  • Perform tractor and trailer work, including inspections and repairs to ensure compliance and roadworthiness.
  • Support special projects, including occasional Saturday work, and coordinate time off in alignment with project needs.

This is a 1st shift role with a preferred schedule of approximately 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., or alternatively 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can expect around 5 hours of overtime per week, with the potential to reach 10 or more hours when needed. The position includes working 1–2 Saturdays per month for special projects, typically as half days, with flexibility to take a day off after working a Saturday. You will work both inside the shop and outside in the yard, handling maintenance and repairs in varied conditions. The environment includes overseeing 3–4 technicians and collaborating closely with them in a hands-on, safety-focused setting, using standard diesel, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic tools and equipment to service tractors, trailers, and fleet vehicles.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $72800.00/yr.
