Rad Tech - Registered

JOB SUMMARY

The Radiologic Technologist-Registered performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. The technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply ionizing radiation to produce diagnostic radiographs. The technologist assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures as required and is trained and a graduate from a certified radiologic training program. The technologist is capable of performing patient care for the age groups 0‑105 years old. The Radiologic Technologist-Registered reports directly to the Radiology Chief Technologist.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education High School graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA‑approved school. Rad Techs working the 3rd shift must successfully pass the CT certification test to receive CT pay. To sit for the CT exam, a candidate must document the performance of a minimum of 125 procedures, choosing 25 different procedures from a list of 59. Licensure/Certification Entry‑level certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Rad Techs must pass the CT certification test within 12 months of completing on‑the‑job CT training at BRHC. CPR required for patient care. Work Experience Rad Techs working the 3rd shift must be able to complete X‑ray and CT exams.

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES

Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures. Perform HRI functions related to diagnostic radiology procedures. Assist radiologists with procedures as required. Ensure patient, peer, and personal safety. Communicate information about patient examinations, schedule, patient condition, and equipment to the appropriate individual. Maintain inter‑ and intra‑departmental relations and professional communication. Conserve supplies, operate radiographic equipment and processors, and report problems appropriately. Continue education in accordance with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Perform other duties as assigned.
