Founding Backend & Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role

Join an early-stage healthtech team building clinical AI systems for healthcare payments. You will own core backend infrastructure that processes complex healthcare data and supports clinical and financial workflows.

What You'll Do

• Build and scale distributed backend systems for chart processing, claims, authorizations, denials, and payer and provider integrations.

• Develop browser and computer-use automation to navigate electronic health record software and payer portals.

• Design reliable infrastructure for scanned charts, PDFs, structured claims, unstructured notes, and operational data at scale.

• Build orchestration, queuing, retry, and observability systems for long-running workflows across healthcare platforms.

• Partner with research and product engineers to bring clinical intelligence capabilities into production and establish engineering patterns.

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of backend software engineering experience, with a focus on infrastructure and complex systems.

• Experience owning and scaling backend infrastructure at a technically complex company, such as in data infrastructure or fintech.

• Strong Python, microservices, and distributed systems experience, including end-to-end system design and implementation.

• Experience with production LLMs or machine learning models, data pipelines, workflow orchestration, or large, messy datasets.

• Browser or computer-use automation and complex integrations experience are relevant.

• Startup experience, comfort with fast-paced work and risk, and interest in an early-stage team are important.

• A degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent strong technical foundations.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $160,000 to $200,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
