Title: Quality / Education / Compliance Manager 553782096 Department: Emergency Care Department Reports To : Director, Emergency Care JOB SUMMARY The Quality/Education/Compliance Manager is a clinician with a high degree of knowledge, skills, and competence in nursing infant through geriatric patients. This position is also skilled in data analysis. The Manager is an integral part of the Service Line Teams. This position understands the importance that disease management is an integrated system of interventions, measurements, and of healthcare delivery designed to optimize clinical and economic outcomes within a specific population that is based on scientific evidence. This position will report the activities to the Quality Improvement Committee, medical staff as appropriate and other healthcare associates. The position also facilitates the educational needs of the Emergency Care Department staff by teaching/facilitating training classes including ACLS, PALS, ENPC, TNCC, Basic Arrhythmias, Moderate Sedation, Deep Sedation, age specific, competencies and JCAHO required educational needs. Provides for professional development and education services by assisting nurses in preparing for contemporary practice and support in acquiring the knowledge and skills to competently collect patient health data, develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain the expected outcomes, implement the interventions identified in the plan of care and evaluate the patient's progress toward attainment of the outcomes in the emergency care setting. The Quality/Education/Compliance Manager will develop and educate unlicensed assistive personnel. The Quality/Education/Compliance Manager will be expected to work in a bedside capacity on an as needed basis. The Quality/Education/Compliance Manager will be responsible for reviewing and coordinating workers compensation and workers compensation follow up. The Manager will provide education and training for staff regarding workers compensation guidelines and protocols. This position will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring the emergency safety program designed to insure the safety and well being of patients and staff. This position will be required to perform environment of care rounds according to JCAHO standards. This position practices the Service Excellence philosophy of the Hamilton Healthcare System. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate of a professional registered nursing program, Bachelor degree preferred. Previous emergency nursing education experience preferred. ACLS instructor, PALS instructor, certification in emergency or critical care such as CEN, CCRN or CFRN also preferred.
Licensure : Current licensed from the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse. Experience: A minimum of five years experience as a Registered Nurse with two in Emergency Care. Previous experience required in active participation in organizational improvement, performance improvement, regulatory surveys, or JACHO surveys. Supervisory or teaching experience preferred. Skills:

- Knowledge of all phases of the nursing process and disease management processes.
- Must demonstrate clinical competency in the practice of Emergency Medicine nursing or specialized nursing as well as qualities of leadership and sound judgment.
- Skilled in the art of human relations, problem solving and conflict resolution/negotiation.
- Capable of facilitating learning of others and able to express oneself effectively before groups.
- Demonstrates good role model qualities; ability to effectively interpret, implement and support approved hospital and state policies, philosophy and objectives.
- Is self-directed in maintaining and improving own competence in clinical skills as well as cognitive aspects of home care/hospice, medical/surgical nursing practice, nursing theory, current research, and disease management.
- Capable of effecting positive change across all departments and with medical staff to improve the quality of patient care and the cost of services.
- Intervenes a necessary with all healthcare professionals to assure quality and cost effective care.
- Identify specific patient care problems that effect program planning and development.
- Collaborate with ancillary departments to provide a multidisciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care delivery.
- Knowledge of culture and diversity of the surrounding population.
- Ability to collect pertinent data related to the potential educational needs of the nursing staff.
- Assess this data to determine the target audience and the learner's needs, implement the program and evaluate and revise as necessary.
- Ensure planned educational activities are implemented and the knowledge to conduct comprehensive evaluations of all educational activities.
