Role: Interim Controller

Pay Rate: $100-$115/hr

Location: Hauppauge, NY (Hybrid - 3 days a week onsite, 2 days WFH)

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Controller with deep manufacturing and cost accounting expertise to lead our financial operations across three separate entities. In this role, your primary focus will be enhancing gross margin visibility by SKU, customer, and product line while strengthening our overall cost accounting and standard costing framework.

Key ResponsibilitiesCost Accounting & Margin Visibility

• Standard Costing: Maintain, refine, and optimize standard costing systems across all manufacturing processes and product lines.
• Variance Analysis: Monitor, analyze, and report on Purchase Price Variance (PPV), production variances, labor absorption, overhead allocation, and raw material costs.
• Margin Analysis: Drive comprehensive Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and gross-margin analyses by SKU, customer, product line, and entity to identify margin expansion opportunities.
• Inventory Control: Oversee inventory valuation, reconciliation, physical inventory counts, cycle counting procedures, and reserves for excess/obsolete inventory.

Financial Management & Multi-Entity Oversight

• Multi-Entity Accounting: Oversee daily accounting operations, month-end close, and year-end close across three separate operating entities.
• Consolidations: Lead financial consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and multi-entity financial reporting.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate, timely monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
• Cash Management: Oversee daily cash management, cash flow forecasting, and working capital optimization.

Process Improvement & Systems

• Leverage accounting/ERP systems to automate processes, enhance data integrity, and improve reporting efficiency.
• Partner with plant operations, supply chain, and executive leadership to align accounting practices with operational goals.

Qualifications & RequirementsMust-Haves

• Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with proven Controller-level leadership in a manufacturing environment.
• Cost Accounting Expertise: Strong mastery of standard costing, COGS, inventory accounting, PPV, production variances, labor absorption, and material costs.
• Multi-Entity & Consolidations: Hands-on experience managing multi-entity accounting structures, intercompany transactions, and consolidated financial statements.
• Analytical Skills: Advanced capability in granular margin and profitability analysis down to the SKU and customer level.
• Cash Management: Track record of managing corporate cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital forecasting.
• Work Arrangement: Ability to work onsite at our Long Island, NY facility 3 days per week .

Strongly Preferred

• ERP Experience: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or Navision).
• Multi-Site Experience: Experience managing accounting across multiple manufacturing sites or facilities.
• Certification: Certified Public Accountant ( CPA ) license.
