Accountant I

Position Summary With direct supervision, the Accountant I assists more senior accounting professionals to coordinate and administer accounting initiatives at a local level. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include the application of accounting principles, analysis of information, and preparing financial/cost accounting reports. This role will have no direct reports. Essential Functions Completes assigned daily general ledger entries and other financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles so that the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial data including income statement and balance sheet Collects and compiles simple financial information and assist senior accountant to prepare accurate and timely financial reports and accounting statements for managers Reports may include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports and fillings Answers standard accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulations Complies with all accounting principles and all relevant regulations, laws, and standards Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential Qualifications Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 1+ years of relevant experience Auditing experience a plus; SOX controls a plus Foundational understanding of accounting principles (GAAP awareness a plus) Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (sorting, formulas, pivot tables a plus) Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures Good communication skills and willingness to learn Competitive Compensation Participation in Annual Incentive Program Benefit & Retirement Plans Comprehensive coverage for medical, prescription drugs, dental, vision, voluntary optional life, accident insurance, hospital indemnity insurance and critical illness insurance with competitive premium cost. 401(k) Plan with company matching contributions at 100% of the first 5% of pay Company provided defined‑contribution retirement plan with annual contribution equal to 3% of pay Career development and tuition reimbursement Other benefits including paid parental leave, short and long‑term disability programs, adoption assistance, a Care.com membership and financial planning assistance are provided at no cost to you.
