RN Medical Unit Telemetry

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will provide skilled nursing care on the 4 West Comprehensive Medical Unit, primarily working night shifts. The role includes patient assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning across various Med-Surg units such as Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac, and Observation. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, requiring proficiency in Epic EMR and telemetry monitoring. Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients on the 4 West Comprehensive Medical Unit and float to other Med-Surg units as needed.
  • Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
  • Monitor telemetry and stepdown patients, interpreting cardiac rhythms accurately.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
  • Document patient care and clinical information accurately in the Epic EMR system.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and compliance.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Ohio.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent/current experience in Telemetry and/or Stepdown nursing.
  • Proficiency in Epic EMR system (documented; no refresher training provided).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret telemetry monitoring on day one.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience working across multiple Med-Surg specialties including Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac, and Observation units.
Special Considerations:
  • Night shift work from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with every other weekend required.
  • No on-call requirement.
  • Failure to demonstrate telemetry competency or Epic proficiency on day one will result in termination.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, comprehensive medical unit environment.
Scheduling:
  • 36 hours per week, night shift schedule (7:00 PM 7:30 AM).
  • Every other weekend shift required.
  • Shift assignments primarily on 4 West Comprehensive Medical Unit with occasional floating to other Med-Surg units.
