Position Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 3 months
Pay Rate: $70.00 / Hour (USD)
Shift / Schedule: Day shift, 5x8 Hours, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM, Monday-Friday. Occasional late days, typically 4-5 days per month; it is rare that staff will work in the lab after 5:00 PM on those days.
Call Requirement: Call one day a week and every fifth weekend.
Float Requirement: Will float as needed.
Weekend Requirement: None

Key Responsibilities

Work in Diagnostic Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab settings.
Perform and assist with procedures including Cardiac Stent Placement, Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult), IABP Placement/Removal, Interventional Catheterizations, Left Heart Catheterization, Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI), Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring, and Right Heart Catheterization.
Administer and monitor medications including Antiarrhythmics, Antihypertensives, Emergency Medications, IV vasopressors, Procedural Sedation, Reversal agents, and Thrombolytics.
Perform IV therapy including Blood Product Administration, IV infusion pump management, and Starting IVs.
Apply professional knowledge and skills including 12 Lead EKG interpretation, Activated Clotting Time (ACT), Cardioversion, Circulate Procedures, Infection Prevention, Interpretation/Management of Dysrhythmias, Isolation Precautions, Malignant Hyperthermia Protocols, Monitoring Procedural Sedation, Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale, and Sheath Removal and Monitoring.
Care for patients referred to the Cath Lab with a range of cardiovascular diagnoses or symptoms, often with suspicion or confirmation of heart or vascular disease, including coronary artery disease (stable angina, unstable angina/NSTEMI, STEMI), heart failure, valvular disease, congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, pericardial disease, and pre-operative evaluation.
Perform and support special procedures including Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) - balloon angioplasty and stent placement, PFO/ASD closure, Cardiogenic shock, CTO, and related procedures.
Operate and utilize special equipment including Impella, Penumbra, EKOS, Roto, Ultrasound, Shockwave, ACIST, and the Client Mac Lab system.
Use unit systems for medication, documentation, and communication including Pyxis, SBAR, and Epic .
Maintain patient ratios of 1:1.

Required Skills

Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Cath Lab nursing.
Experience in Diagnostic Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab work settings.
Proficiency with procedures: Cardiac Stent Placement, Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult), IABP Placement/Removal, Interventional Catheterizations, Left Heart Catheterization, Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI), Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring, Right Heart Catheterization.
Medication administration and monitoring: Antiarrhythmics, Antihypertensives, Emergency Medications, IV vasopressors, Procedural Sedation Administration/Monitoring, Reversal agents, Thrombolytics.
IV therapy skills: Blood Product Administration, IV infusion pumps, Starting IVs.

Traveler experience: Not required.

Preferred Skills

Experience with advanced Cardiac Cath Lab procedures: ASD Closures, Cardiac Implant Closure Device, Impella insertion, Rotablader atherectomy, Scrub Procedures, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation/Replacement (TAVI/TAVR).
Vascular Studies/Procedures: Angioplasty, dialysis graft interventional, Upper and Lower Extremity Angiography.
IV therapy: Assist with Central Line Insertion/Management, Implanted Ports - Care and Maintenance, PICC Lines - Care and Maintenance.
Professional Knowledge and Skills: End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, External Compression Devices (C-Clamp, Sandbags), Hypothermia protocols, Laser Assisted Procedures, Pressure Ulcer Assessment/Prevention, Radiation and Laser Safety, Topical Hemostasis (D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch), Vascular Closure Systems (Perclose, StarClose), Ventilator Monitoring.

Education Requirements

ACLS certification required.
BLS certification required.

Required Experience

Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

Unit orientation: 16 hours.
Scrubs provided.
Flu vaccine required (Medical/Religious exemptions only).
COVID-19 vaccine: Not required.
On-call requirement: One day per week and every fifth weekend.
Float requirement: Will float as needed.
Occasional late days, typically 4-5 days per month.
