Quality Control Technician (CMM Specialist)

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Control Technician/CMM Specialist opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN . Position Overview The Quality Control Technician/ Metrology (CMM) Specialist will support the new Centrifuge Manufacturing Development Facility (CMDF) in Oak Ridge, TN. This position is responsible for performing dimensional inspections, operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), supporting first article inspections, validating manufacturing processes, and ensuring measurement systems provide accurate and reliable results. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting prototype development, manufacturing process maturation, and production readiness activities by providing precise measurement data and objective evidence of product conformity. This role requires strong metrology skills, experience with advanced measurement systems, and the ability to work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality personnel in a high-precision manufacturing environment. Verify product conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements. Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T requirements. Utilize precision measuring equipment to verify critical product characteristics. Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Operation Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to support inspection and validation activities. Develop, modify, and execute CMM inspection programs. Analyze inspection results and generate dimensional reports. Troubleshoot measurement and inspection issues. Calypso Programming Create and maintain Calypso inspection programs. Optimize inspection routines for efficiency and repeatability. Validate CMM programs prior to production use. Support development of automated inspection strategies. First Article Inspection (FAI) Support First Article Inspection activities. Perform detailed dimensional verification of prototype and production components. Generate and maintain FAI documentation packages. Verify compliance with engineering requirements prior to release for production activities. Process Validation and Manufacturing Readiness Perform dimensional studies supporting process validation activities. Support Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR). Assist with process capability studies and measurement system evaluations. Collect and analyze measurement data supporting manufacturing process development. Measurement System Support Verify calibration status of inspection and measurement equipment. Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities. Assist with Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies. Ensure inspection equipment is suitable for intended use. Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum three (3) years of experience performing dimensional inspection in a manufacturing environment. Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). Experience programming Zeiss CMMs using Calypso software. Experience interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T. Proficiency in: Calypso Programming Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Operation Precision Dimensional Inspection Blueprint Reading Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Receiving Inspection First Article Inspection (FAI) Inspection Reporting Precision Measurement Techniques Preferred Qualification Associate Degree in Manufacturing Technology, Quality Technology, Metrology, Mechanical Technology, or related technical field preferred. Five (5)+ years of inspection or metrology experience. Experience supporting First Article Inspections. Experience working in aerospace, defense, nuclear, medical device, semiconductor, or other high-precision manufacturing environments. Experience supporting prototype development or manufacturing process validation activities. ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT). Experience with the following is highly desirable: Zeiss CMM Platforms
