Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical patients in a hospital setting. Ensures patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes through skilled clinical interventions and collaboration with healthcare teams.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct patient care including vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, and applying heart monitors.
• Administer medications, assist with bathing, feeding, toileting, turning, and repositioning of patients.
• Titrate IV drips such as heparin, Bumex, and Lasix, adhering to protocols with some exceptions.
• Monitor telemetry, troubleshoot respiratory equipment, and support respiratory treatments when required.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and responses.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, nurse aides, and respiratory therapists to ensure coordinated care.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid RN license with at least 1 year of clinical experience, preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS is preferred or can be obtained post-hire.
• Able to titrate IV drips with proficiency, excluding cardiac drips.
• Experience caring for patients with pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, falls, or weakness desired.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including rotating days and nights.
• First-time travelers accepted; strong communication skills required.
