Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry I/IMC MedSurg

Shift: Days 7A-7P

Type of Patients: A diverse mix of diagnoses and acuity, including respiratory issues, sepsis, and multiple co-morbidities.

Experience Required: 2 years of experience in a related nursing specialty.

Summary

The competent Nurse in a similar clinical setting practices independently and demonstrates a comprehensive awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role involves providing both routine and complex care while being able to plan for long-term goals. The Nurse will develop their capacity to cope with and manage contingencies in clinical nursing, make appropriate assignments, and delegate tasks to other care providers to effectively manage clinical situations.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of competencies as a Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Utilizes the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients, in accordance with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments according to protocols while monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers; identifies issues and resources for support.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact.

Position Requirements

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member; initial onboarding requirements will be validated through successful completion of designated entry competency validation and a MedSurg specific competency validation.
• All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation.
• Skill completion and competency validation will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through the program's tracking software.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.
