Sr. Market Optimization Software Engineer

Salary: $127,880 - 191,820 per year Requirements:

• We require a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering with a thesis or related work in power systems, or a degree in a STEM field.
• We require at least 4 years of experience in electricity markets, Security Constrained Unit Commitment and Economic Dispatch using Mixed Integer Programming (MIP), or power system analysis applications.
• We require legal authorization to work in the country where the role is based; we may sponsor an employment visa if needed and allowed.
• We prefer a PhD in Electrical Engineering with thesis or related work in power systems, along with 1 year of development or project delivery experience in the electricity market field.
• We value strong understanding of Mixed-Integer Programming (MIP).
• We value experience with testing and test automation.
• We value strong knowledge of source control management, especially GitHub.
• We value the ability to quickly learn new development practices, programming languages, and tools.

• We define, develop, and continuously improve software in a fast-paced agile environment using modern development technologies and infrastructure.
• We provide domain expertise and technical leadership to our electricity markets application software team.
• We lead and contribute to application development, ensuring delivery remains on schedule, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations.
• We prepare design notes, testing procedures, and similar technical documentation.
• We provide budget estimates for new project tasks to project leads and project managers.
• We work closely with customers throughout the project lifecycle to ensure quality standards and functional requirements are met.
• We mentor junior team members and support their development.
• We collaborate with product development, customers, solution providers, integrators, and other cross-functional teams as needed.
• We apply SDLC principles and practices such as Lean, Agile, XP, CI, product and software security, scalability, documentation, refactoring, and testing techniques.
• We serve as mentors to newer team members in support of business goals.
• We track the completion of our deliverables against schedule commitments.
• We communicate problem-solving approaches and options transparently, working toward fair outcomes and balanced tradeoffs.
