Jira Platform Administrator / Atlassian Administrator
Location: New York, NY
Duration: 12 Months
Work Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
We are seeking an experienced Jira Platform Administrator / Atlassian Administrator to manage, administer, and optimize the enterprise Atlassian platform. This role is responsible for ensuring the health, stability, governance, and scalability of the Jira environment while enabling Agile delivery, portfolio management, and enterprise reporting.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience administering Jira and other Atlassian tools, implementing governance standards, configuring enterprise workflows, managing permissions, and supporting Agile teams across large organizations.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and maintain the enterprise Jira platform to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
- Own the overall health, governance, and operational support of the Atlassian environment.
- Configure and manage Jira projects, workflows, issue types, screens, custom fields, permissions, notification schemes, and security settings.
- Establish and maintain enterprise governance standards, best practices, and platform policies.
- Manage global Jira configuration while ensuring consistency across business units.
- Support Agile teams by configuring Scrum and Kanban projects and enabling Agile delivery practices.
- Develop and maintain portfolio reporting dashboards and executive-level metrics.
- Create and manage Jira dashboards, filters, reports, and analytics to support business decision-making.
- Administer user access, roles, groups, and permission schemes.
- Manage workflow automation, validation rules, post functions, and business rules.
- Configure and support Jira integrations with enterprise applications and third-party tools.
- Perform platform upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Monitor platform usage, system health, and operational performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve platform efficiency through automation and process optimization.
- Support change management activities related to Jira platform enhancements.
- Develop and maintain platform documentation, governance standards, and administration procedures.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project administrators, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and business users.
- Collaborate with Agile Coaches, PMO teams, developers, and business stakeholders to improve enterprise Agile processes.
- Ensure platform security, compliance, and adherence to organizational standards.
- Assist with migration, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Atlassian ecosystem.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong experience administering Jira in an enterprise environment.
- Experience administering Atlassian products , including Jira Software and Jira Service Management.

- Experience supporting Agile methodologies including:

- Experience creating dashboards, reports, and portfolio-level metrics.
- Strong understanding of Jira governance, platform administration, and enterprise standards.
- Experience managing user provisioning, access control, and permissions.
- Experience with Jira workflow automation and process optimization.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to support multiple teams within a large enterprise environment.
- Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) certifications.
- Experience administering:
- Confluence
- Jira Service Management (JSM)
- Atlassian Cloud or Data Center
- Experience integrating Jira with DevOps, CI/CD, and enterprise applications.
- Experience with scripting and automation using Groovy, ScriptRunner, or Automation for Jira.
- Experience supporting enterprise Agile transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of ITSM, SDLC, DevOps, and project portfolio management.
- Experience implementing governance and compliance standards for enterprise collaboration platforms.
