We are dedicated to providing our customers with unsurpassed service in underwriting, claims management, risk management, and providing innovative solutions to complex insurance needs.Summary:The Underwriter is primarily responsible for risk selection, analysis, documentation, pricing, and sales of commercial property and liability new business, as well as being responsible for renewal retention and ongoing management of existing portfolio.Key Job Objectives:Manage book of business by evaluating submissions, making decisions consistent with guidelines in a timely mannerMaintain complete and well-organized electronic underwriting files according to guidelinesMaintaining a good relationship with assigned brokers by responding promptly to requests and clearly communicating underwriting decisionsReview and evaluate upcoming renewals in a thorough and timely manner, ensuring that nonrenewal notices and renewal quotes are issued accurately and timelyOngoing management of existing portfolioEffectively supervise Underwriting Assistant(s)Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent, bachelor's degree preferredP&C licenseFive or more years of related experience and working knowledge of commercial property/casualty coverages and services, including technical principles of rating and pricing commercial lines business based upon individual risk criteria to promote underwriting profitabilityProficient computer skills, including Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills with strong Excel and Adobe knowledge, and database ratingAbility to build and maintain strong internal and external business relationshipsNegotiation and sales skills with the ability to deliver a challenging messageStrong written and oral communication skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsAnalytical and critical problem-solving skillsAttention to detailSelf-motivated with a strong work ethicBenefits Offered:Health: CIBA offers a comprehensive benefits package to its employees including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
