Job Summary:

Vail Resorts is the world’s leading mountain resort operator, with 42 resorts in 17 states and four countries. The Communications Team is responsible for promoting Vail Resorts and its values; each of our world-class resorts; and the product that provides guests with unrivaled access to all of them, the Epic Pass. Our resort-based communications teams manage strategic communications, PR, content creation and resort social media channels with the mission of providing an Experience of a Lifetime for our guests.The Senior Specialist of Content at Vail Mountain, supporting Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek Resort, is a vital member of the mountain communications team, assisting with the management and strategy of resort social media channels and organic content creation.

This role, located at Vail Mountain, will provide support in the development and execution of social media strategy, organization of content calendars and execution of content plans, while assisting with the capture of timely, in-the-moment photo and video content assets from the resort experience to leverage across Vail Resorts’ various marketing channels and platforms. This position will assist in capturing and producing the creative and content elements needed to promote the resort and includes strategic planning, content capture, production, posting, distribution and community management of channels including social media, website, PR/marketing distribution channels and more.The Senior Specialist of Content will assist in helping promote and build resort brand awareness and reputation. They will also support driving visitation to the resorts and other company priorities through high quality content creation. They will be involved in the content and creative aspects of bringing the resorts’ stories to life while ensuring the content follows the clearly defined brand and communications guidelines.

They will have their hands in many different types of on-the-ground communications projects and be responsible for delivering results on time in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility and a positive attitude are crucial for this role.The ideal candidate will have experience in communications, social media strategy, storytelling, copywriting and content creation, including excellent photo and video capture and editing skills.

This role, located at Beaver Creek Resort, will provide support in the development and execution of social media strategy, organization of content calendars and execution of content plans, while assisting with the capture of timely, in-the-moment photo and video content assets from the resort experience to leverage across Vail Resorts’ various marketing channels and platforms. 

Job Specifications: 

• Starting Wage: $65,000 - $70,000

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversight of social media strategy, content calendar and execution
• Utilize strong storytelling skills to bring the resort brands to life across a variety of platforms and mediums.
• Work closely with the communications and marketing team to create content and  messaging that is in line with the resort brand.
• Maintain a content production calendar, with an organized schedule of cadenced messaging needs.
• Assist with community management of resort social media channels and reporting.
• Assist with ideation and creation of multimedia content and creative asset development for social media, digital, video, website, blogs, and other platforms.
• Independently capture, shoot, edit and publish multimedia content under tight deadlines. Expectation to capture content on all powder days and post in a timely manner.
• Assist with larger-scale brand and marketing photo and video shoots.
• Organize and lead smaller-scale resort photo and video shoots including contracted models and photographers/videographers.
• Photo and video asset management and tracking.
• Assist with various PR-related storytelling content needs as required.
• Other miscellaneous communications and PR/marketing duties as assigned, including but not limited to: web content, creation of articles and listicles, social media channel content, content coverage of resort events/attractions/conditions, CRM content contribution, and working with various vendors, agencies and contractors in the resort’s content creation network to amalgamate, edit and distribute various types of creative and content assets.
• Basic administrative duties.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Communications, Journalism or Marketing.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a communications and content role, preferably in the ski industry or related industry
• Strong communication, storytelling, and copywriting skills.
• An eye for visual design, with the ability to work independently to capture photo and video assets.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Understanding and knowledge of social media platforms.
• Experience with Sprout Social and other social media management programs is a plus.
• Intermediate or above skiing or snowboarding ability. Able to ski/ride with a gear backpack of 30+ pounds
• High quality photo and video capture and editing experience is required, including experience with the full Adobe creative suite of software products.
• Comfortable shooting, editing, and publishing video content including proficiency with GoPro cameras and phone apps.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Must be organized and thrive managing multiple projects at once.
• Must be able to work within a flexible schedule to capture content at certain times (i.e. prior to resort openings, following major snowfall, during events, weekends, etc.)
• Must be familiar with leveraging and engaging with guests in a brand voice via social media platforms and channels.
• Must speak, read and communicate fluently in English.

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $65,000 - $70,000. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
