The team includes Talent Acquisition, Human Resources (HR), Marketing, Data Analytics, Finance & Accounting and Delivery Excellence. As Portage Point continues to grow, the DE team is laser focused on scalability, quality and automation.The General Counsel role at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity to assume a wide range of responsibilities and make a significant impact. This General Counsel is the firm's senior legal advisor and will build and lead the legal function as Portage Point scales across practice lines, offices and geographies. The General Counsel will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and oversee all legal, regulatory, risk and compliance matters, including client and vendor engagement terms, broker-dealer and investment banking regulation, employment matters, corporate governance and transactions. You will lead key initiatives, manage discrete workstreams and work closely with senior leaders. If you thrive in a self-engineered, high-performance culture and want to help build the future of a rapidly growing professional services firm, this is the right role for you.Responsibilities Serve as the principal legal advisor to the CEO, Board, Sponsor and executive leadership on legal and governance mattersOwn the firm's client contracting framework, including engagement letters, retention applications, MSAs, SOWs, NDAs and indemnification terms and set risk-based approval standardsOversee regulatory compliance across the platform, including the broker-dealer and FINRA obligations, independence and conflicts procedures, data privacy and cross-border requirements for international operations such as Triple P IndiaManage disputes, litigation, claims and professional liability matters, including engagement of outside counselAdvise on employment matters, restrictive covenants, partner and equity arrangements, and support corporate development activity including acquisitions, new office openings and entity structuringLead internal trainings and best practice sharingSupport talent acquisition and firm-building initiativesQualifications Bachelor's degree from a top undergraduate programJuris Doctor (JD) from a top law school and active bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdictionLocated in or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas, New York or Palm BeachInvested in a team-based culture, motivated to collaborate in office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as neededSeven plus years of legal experience, including time at a leading law firm and experience in an in-house role at a professional services, consulting, financial advisory or investment banking firmDeep experience negotiating client engagement terms, limitation-of-liability and indemnification provisions and managing professional liability riskAbility to act as a trusted, commercially minded partner to practice leaders, enabling the firm to win and deliver work while managing risk appropriatelySuperior written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentation and reporting skillsProven ability to thrive in lean, fast-moving teamsHigh attention to detail, responsiveness and ownership mindsetTrack record of success in high-pressure, client-facing environments$300,000 - $390,000 a yearIn accordance with pay transparency laws in the City of New York and the State of California, Portage Point provides a good-faith cash compensation range for this position. This range represents the cash compensation (base plus bonus) that the firm reasonably expects to pay upon hire, based on good-faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting. The final compensation within this range will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, education, training, experience and location.
