Director, Pricing—Commercial Excellence Location: OPEN TO ALL U.S. LOCATIONS Company Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) practice focuses on serving middle market and large-cap private equity firms to improve operating results at their portfolio companies. PEPI Services Commercial Excellence Transformation Services CDD/Strategy Interim Management Manufacturing Operations Improvement Supply Chain CFO Services How You Will Contribute Advise companies on Revenue & Margin Management, including margin transparency, product portfolio optimization, SKU rationalization, new product development, pricing, and margin recovery. Lead teams to deliver data‑driven business insights, develop intellectual property, and support implementation. Responsibilities Margin Transparency: evaluate cost allocation processes, assess profitability, identify cost-to-serve drivers, recommend improvements, and implement cost-to-serve premiums. Product Portfolio Optimization: assess competitive landscape, evaluate portfolio, develop sales and investment strategies. SKU Rationalization: identify low‑margin SKUs, assess reduction opportunities, implement rationalization initiatives. Price Optimization: assess pricing strategies, improve pricing process, implement price increases, evaluate volume vs price vs mix impacts. Margin Recovery: assess cost-to-serve value, identify recovery opportunities, improve pricing/quoting processes. Professional Skills Project Management – own high-quality execution, roadmap design, team management, deliverable presentation. Project Fulfillment – combine creative problem solving with analytical rigor; develop margin transparency, pricing analysis, dashboards, segmentation, and modeling. Data Manipulation & Analysis – work with client and market data using Excel, SQL Server, BI tools such as Alteryx or Tableau, statistical programs such as SPSS or R. People & Team Leadership – motivate, develop, mentor team members. Client Relations – manage day-to-day client relationships, define requirements, develop hypotheses, generate recommendations. Qualifications Industry experience in B2B and Business Services; experience with PE preferred. Strong financial acumen, understanding of P&L and cost drivers. 7‑10+ years focused on Revenue & Margin, developing and implementing pricing processes and methodology. Experience with value-based, transactional, discount leakage, and pass-through pricing; familiarity with Vendavo and approval processes. Analytical skills and experience with SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, SPSS, R, web analytics. Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Outstanding project management and people development capabilities. Consulting experience preferred (not required). MBA preferred (not required).
