Daily Bread is expanding our staffing to meet rising hunger needs in the Lynchburg area! We are seeking a full-time kitchen manager who's ready to lead in a dynamic and creative environment, working Sun-Thurs, approximately 6am-1pm. We do have some flexibility in workhours and days of the week. For instance, Sundays are relaxed, but Monday mornings are full speed.

Job Duties:
- Responsible for supervising and maintaining the daily operations of the kitchen including lunch preparation, lunch service and clean-up.
- Ensure that donated food is not allowed to expire or turn rotten. Plan the day’s menu based on available foods and which need to be used first based on expiration dates and freshness.
- Ensure all food in all coolers is labeled/dated.
- Keep an accurate count of daily meals served and report number served to the Director of Operations.
- Utilize volunteers and community service workers to the best of their abilities – this may include allowing them to prepare food, with the Kitchen Manager moving to the role of supervisor.
- Ensure food safety and the cleanliness of the facility at all times
- Supervise Asst. Kitchen Managers, Kitchen Assistants & Dishwashers.
- Supervise the cleaning efforts at the end of lunch service: kitchen prep area, floors, counter/stovetops, dishes, linen and trash. Ensure the interior and exterior of the building are all clean and organized.
- Ensure the ovens are cleaned weekly and cleans out refrigerators weekly, disposing of outdated foods.
- Active ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification required.
- Monitor supply needs and reports these to the Executive Director.
- Report to the Executive Director any maintenance problems, food issues or any activities or events out of the ordinary.
