Responsibilities*

• Perform head measurement/marking according to the international 10-20 measuring system and accurately place and secure electrodes.
• Acquires satisfactory EEG recordings according to ACNS guidelines.
• Can fix electrodes, perform activation procedures such as HV and Photic, disconnect and move patients, and set up rooms.
• Performs routine and portable EEGs on any patient independently.
• Performs ECOG, ictal-SPECT, PET, WADA, surgical EEG language and motor mappings, LTM, Ambulatory and ICU video EEG monitoring under general supervision.
• Participates in EEG rounds and EEG reviews.
• Trains new staff/students.
• Performs measurement checkoffs.
• Alerts supervisor and/or activate hospital systems, such as rapid response, cardiac arrest, etc., per established protocols when encountering patient clinical issues.
• Follows the seizure action plan.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED


General supervision is received from a Clinical Supervisor or staff physician.


SUPERVISION EXCERCISED

Assists in the training of new staff members/students and as directed from the Technical Coordinator.


Required Qualifications*

Electroencephalographic Technologist Registered (Certified)

• High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• R.EEG T. Certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist
• This classification requires Primary Source Verification.
• High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body
• Eligibility or certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist. Must obtain credentials within the eligible pathway timeframe, calculated from the date of hire to continue employment.

Electroencephalograph Technologist Non-Registered

• High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body
• Eligibility or certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist. Must obtain credentials within the eligible pathway timeframe, calculated from the date of hire to continue employment.

Desired Qualifications*

Electroencephalograph Technologist Registered (Certified)

• Reasonable experience as an EEG Technician.
• Satisfactory completion of college courses in the physiological and biological sciences is desirable.
• Satisfactory completion of college courses in the physiological and biological sciences is desirable.

Electroencephalograph Technologist Non-Registered

• Satisfactory completion of an accredited program in END Technology is highly desirable.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .

Work Schedule

The available schedule is 10-hour shifts with rotation every other weekend.

• Saturday, Monday, Thursday 8:30p-7a (Variable)
• 30 hours per week

Please note:

• Mandatory holiday rotation.
• Participation in 24-hour on call schedule and overtime as assigned. Mandatory overtime may be possible.
• Training and orientation will occur primarily Monday through Friday during the day shift 7a-5:30p before being deployed to weekend rotation schedule.

Underfill Statement

This position may be underfilled with a graduate non-certified candidate. ABRET certification is required within 2 years of date of hire.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
