Senior Project Engineering Manager - Water/Wastewater

Date: May 17, 2026 Location: Arlington, VA, US Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies Opportunity As the Sr. Project Engineering Manager for Water & Wastewater, you will manage execution of the engineering component of multiple traditional, design-build, design-bid-build, and collaborative delivery projects, including advanced treatment facilities, underground conveyance, and carbon neutral solutions. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Lead a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians on high profile municipal projects. Supervise and mentor engineering staff, identifying developmental growth opportunities. Manage budgets, scheduling, and correspondence with clients and project management in support of a project. Key Responsibilities Project Execution Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects. Conduct research to develop equipment and material recommendations. Oversee collection of data and management of engineering work. Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines. Lead larger production teams, coordinate multiple discipline activities, and serve as responsible charge for complex projects. Establish a workplan to be applied to a project. Client Interface Identify key client interests and drivers for highly complex projects. Communicate client concerns to project team members and develop solutions. Provide support for business development or pursuit activities. Manage project changes directly with the client with Project Management. Technical Expertise Lead large multi-discipline teams to meet project deliverables. Serve as technical leader for complex water and wastewater treatment projects. Drive solutions to achieve project goals. May support the chief engineer and support discipline-specific engineering processes. Management Responsibilities Review lower-level engineering work or assignments. Hiring, mentoring, performance management and pay administration of assigned personnel. Preferred Qualifications PE license. Previous engineering consulting experience. Experience executing complex multi-discipline WTP and WWTP upgrades and expansion projects. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program. Minimum 11 years related work experience. Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, etc.). Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options after first 90 days based on manager discretion, job performance and work assignments. Sitting, standing, computer usage for extended periods. Use of video/audio conferencing software tools for internal/external communication. Travel to client sites.
