All The Best Pet Care has eighteen retail stores and a 40-year history of making little miracles happen by offering the best in food, treats, toys and supplements to help animals thrive.Each store is a neighborhood gathering place, celebrating every dog who comes to visit and offering the latest information about optimal nutrition for pets. Our highly trained staff tailors a solution for each customer's unique needs, with products focused on whole foods, local products, sustainable manufacturing, and corporate integrity.We are hiring part-time Pet Care Specialists for our Mercer Island location who have energy, enthusiasm, maturity, and great customer service skills. Starting pay is $21.50/hour with sales bonuses, paid time off, great employee discounts, 401(K) retirement plan with matching, free ORCA card, and opportunity for advancement.**Job requirements are:*** A sincere desire to help companion animals* Prior retail or customer service experience is a plus* Good verbal and written communication skills* Basic computer and math computation skills* Ability to work with others as a team* Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs without strain* Ability to stand continuously for 2 - 3 hours at a time* Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and reach upwardly or overhead* Ability to comply with our non-smoking policy while on the premises* Available to work shifts to meet the needs of the store, including evenings* Available to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday\\*\\*At this time, we are looking to fill only part-time positions with individuals 18 or over. We are not hiring minors or seasonal.\\*\\*Pay range: $21.50 - $23.00 an hour**Job Description****PET CARE SPECIALIST****Status: Non-exempt (Hourly)**A Pet Care Specialist is a key team member who assists in meeting or exceeding sales goals by means of impeccable customer service and excellent store operations.**Essential Job Functions:****Customer Service Responsibilities:*** Provide a helpful customer-friendly environment* Greet each customer and “celebrate” any dog that comes in* Interact with customers to assess their needs and desires. Interaction with customers should be professional and appropriate. Discussions should be focused on nutrition, animal care and product information. Personal conversations should be avoided* Educate customers about products and offer suggestions to meet their needs* Process sales transactions accurately at POS registers and online orders**Product Knowledge and Education Responsibilities:*** Demonstrate comprehension and completion of all JRCs* Participate in scheduled classroom trainings* Read Product Training Sheets and complete associated quizzes* Know relevant features and benefits of current food brands and categories* Demonstrate comprehension of basic cat and dog physiology and nutrition* Communicate information consistent with the All The Best philosophy* Utilize knowledge of products and pet nutrition to make recommendations**Team Member Responsibilities:*** Work well with others to achieve sales and operational goals and objectives* Take initiative to perform tasks that need to be done at slow times during the day* Follows directions from leadership* Support other team members as needed* Have a positive attitude and is willing and able to work at other stores and send help to stores as needed. Creates a positive guest worker experience* Have appropriate, work related conversations with team members* Receive feedback on job elements and implement in ongoing work activities* Arrive on time and ready to work for each scheduled shift* Provides advance notice of any absence in compliance with company policy of at least two hours notice. Notifies supervisor of any tardiness prior to each scheduled shift**Store Operations Responsibilities:*** Continually groom the retail floor, stocking shelves and displays as needed* Perform stock maintenance as needed (pricing, rotating, damaged items, etc.)* Perform store maintenance and cleaning (daily task sheet, recycling, etc.)* Demonstrate comprehension of all participating manufacturer recycling programs, communicates relevant information to customers, and prepares returned packaging for pickup* Maintain stock room in a clean organized fashion* Accurately count out tills and balance cash drawers* Accurately process discounts in POS system* Accurately process price adjustments in POS system## Qualifications**Qualifications:*** A concern for the health and well-being of dogs and cats* Aptitude for basic customer service and sales techniques* A good eye for detail* Ability to work as part of a team* Excellent communication skills* Basic computer skills* A high school diploma or GED* Professional appearance and demeanor* Ability to read, understand, and retain written information* Ability to lift 40 pounds* Ability to work varied hours/days to meet the needs of the business**Physical Capacity and Work Environment:*** Able to work in close proximity to dogs and cats* Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. repeatedly, without strain* Able to stand on feet continuously for several hours* Requires full range of motion:* Reach and lift overhead* Bend, stoop, crawl, climbThis Pet Care Specialist Job Description reflects All the Best Pet Care’s best effort to describe the essential functions and essential qualifications of the job described.
