MRI Technologist

Job Summary The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing advanced MRI imaging procedures across multiple body systems including abdomen, pelvis, cardiovascular, chest, head and neck, musculoskeletal, spine, and special imaging techniques. The role requires at least 2 years of experience, proficiency in Cerner charting, and the ability to work in a Level I trauma acute care hospital setting. Strong technical skills, patient care, and adherence to safety protocols are essential. The position includes on-call duties and a block schedule of three 12-hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Responsibilities Perform MRI imaging of abdomen, pelvis, cardiovascular system, chest, head and neck, musculoskeletal system, and spine using specialized techniques. Execute special imaging procedures such as CINE, Diffusion, Gradient Echo Imaging, MIP, MRP, Perfusion, Spin Echo, Surface Coils, T-1 and T-2 weighted imaging. Operate MRI equipment following safety and quality standards to produce diagnostic images. Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare team to ensure accurate imaging and patient care. Maintain patient records and document imaging procedures using Cerner electronic medical record system. Adhere to hospital protocols including infection control, patient safety, and trauma center requirements. Respond to on-call requests as needed to support facility imaging needs. Comply with fingerprinting and licensing requirements within specified timelines. Required Skills & Certifications Minimum 2 years MRI technologist experience. ARRT-MR certification preferred. Proficiency in performing MRI exams of abdomen, pelvis, cardiovascular, chest, head and neck, musculoskeletal, and spine regions. Experience with special MRI imaging procedures and sequences. Cerner electronic medical record system experience. Ability to work in an acute care Level I trauma hospital environment. Compliance with fingerprinting and licensing requirements prior to start. Preferred Skills & Certifications Level I trauma experience. Experience with abdominal MRA, MRV, and specialized pelvic imaging. Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular MR angiography and venography techniques. Special Considerations On-call availability required as needed. Must be located in Illinois at least 3 business days prior to compliance deadlines. Strict adherence to hospital dress code: solid color scrubs. Parking permit required for hospital parking; no cost to employee. Candidate must not exceed 5 days return-to-office (RTO) restrictions. Guaranteed hours subject to client call-off policies with specified billing protections. Scheduling Work schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 06:30 to 19:00. Block scheduling preferred; schedule requests to be discussed with manager.
