Position Description

Staff Accountant

Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and meticulous Staff Accountant to join our growing construction company. This position will support the financial operations of eight related entities and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing receivable, reconciliations, tax compliance and collection activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong multi-entity, construction accounting experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage full-cycle accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, cash receipts, customer account maintenance and aging review
• Oversee and manage the collection process to ensure timely payment of outstanding balances
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns accurately and timely
• Process annual 1099 filings
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions across multiple entities
• Support audit activities and provide requested financial documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
• Work closely with project managers and operations team to resolve accounting and billing issues
• Adheres to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment
• Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Staff Accountant

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction industry
• Knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax requirements
• Strong understanding of GAAP, accounts receivable and collection processes, as well as multi-entity accounting and intercompany reconciliations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with VISTA by Viewpoint and Trimble Pay is a plus
• Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively
