Job Summary Senior Automotive Technician: Diagnose and repair customer vehicles with accuracy, efficiency, and quality, performing advanced diagnostics and repairs while ensuring every vehicle meets MAP guidelines and dealership, manufacturer, and company repair standards. Compensation $30.00/Hr. – $45.00/Hr. (flag rate), depending on experience and certifications. Perform work as outlined on the multi-point inspection and/or repair order with efficiency and accuracy. Perform complex and heavy-duty repairs. Explain technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals including store manager, service consultants, and/or customers. Recommend services needed to keep customer’s vehicle running; properly document all recommendations in customer file. Follow all safety procedures and report any concerns to direct supervisor. Work flexible schedules, including weekends as needed (except Sundays). Adhere to Sun Auto’s core values, company policies, and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook. Qualifications Previous automotive technician/mechanic experience required. ASE certifications in lieu of experience. Ability to demonstrate proper use of computerized diagnostic equipment. Valid driver’s license. Must be at least 18 years of age. Possess State Inspector License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. High school diploma or equivalent; technical school experience preferred. Working Conditions and Physical Demands The Senior Automotive Technician will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous or non-hazardous materials. The temperature in the work environment varies and could include extreme heat and/or cold. The use of safety goggles or other PPE may be required. Physical requirements: Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and be able to walk to various areas of the building. Bend, stoop, kneel and crouch regularly; full range of motion with arms and hands. Lift up to 10 pounds regularly; lift up to 70 pounds frequently. Communicate with customers and shop personnel.
