Practical Nurse (Outpatient)

Duties

Obtain information from patient to identify major complaints, symptoms, or reason for seeking health care.

Take all vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, pain level, height, weight); perform a behavioral health screening.

Document patients' chief complaints and other pertinent information in the health record.

Provide individualized nursing care to patients based upon the physician's medical care plan; the nursing assessment; and the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patient.

Prepare procedure rooms by ensuring required equipment, consent forms, etc. are available.

Administer oxygen, IV fluid, and prescribed oral, rectal, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications.

Collect and prepare laboratory specimens according to local Standard Operating Procedures.
