Position Overview

The therapist will serve as a clinically proficient practitioner in respiratory care, delivering services to patients with minimal supervision.

This role involves the therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients experiencing deficiencies and abnormalities affecting the cardiopulmonary system and related functions of other systems.

The therapist will administer respiratory treatments, including oxygen and other medical gases, aerosolized medications, positive pressure breathing devices, ventilators, and resuscitation equipment. They will also conduct pulmonary diagnostic procedures and assessments, utilizing their understanding of growth and development principles to evaluate each patient’s unique age-specific needs and provide tailored treatments and care.

Efficiency in various clinical and critical care environments is essential to ensure quality service to patient care units through effective communication, cooperation, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Participation in additional training and certification courses is encouraged to enhance expertise and skills, enabling certification for specialized clinical areas.

• Associate's Degree is required; a Bachelor’s Degree from an AMA-approved Respiratory program is preferred.
• Ability to work independently as a proactive team member.
• Current State of Connecticut Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) must be obtained before Orientation.
• BLS/ACLS Certification required.
