Lab Technician Shift 1

Job Function The role of the Lab Technician is to fulfill the goal and objectives of the entire plant. Ensure accurate and timely product testing so that dairy products are manufactured within quality specifications. Monitor processing and production lines to ensure that GMPs are followed. Prevent costly errors by production personnel. Ensure that the shift contributes to the best financial interests of Vandervoort Dairy. Duties and Responsibilities Follow all GMP and dairy plant policies and procedures. Maintain a high work ethic. Give input and ideas on improving job and department. Perform any assignments from the management team. Test finished products for proper manufacturing and adherence to quality specifications. Test incoming raw milk, water and ingredients for compliance with government regulations and company quality specifications. Complete Supplier Preventive Control – Antibiotic Residue testing on all incoming loads of raw milk. Perform shift inspections for GMPs, equipment, temperature and sanitation checks. Prepare vitamin samples, water samples and environmental swabs for testing by outside laboratories. Conduct ATP pre‑start inspections of fillers, tanks, lines and other equipment as necessary. Calibrate lab equipment and plant thermometers. Perform work safely and efficiently to prevent delays on production lines. Keep lab clean. Train other lab technicians as necessary. Keep supervisors informed of problems or achievements. Suggest ideas or solutions to improve efficiencies and housekeeping. All other duties as assigned by the lab foreperson and/or QA manager. Perform all duties of a laboratory associate when needed. Education High school education, plus two years of college required. Must have basic math skills. Must have good written and verbal skills.
