Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, adjusting, replacing, and installing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, and electrical systems and components for all plant equipment in a high-volume, continuous-run manufacturing environment. You will primarily perform mechanical maintenance with a smaller portion of electrical work, support equipment reliability through preventive maintenance, and occasionally fabricate equipment and parts through welding and machining. You will read and interpret prints and manuals, clean and prepare parts, and help keep production equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plant mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, and electrical systems and components on production equipment in a high-volume, continuous-run manufacturing environment.
  • Perform approximately 90% mechanical maintenance and 10% electrical maintenance on industrial equipment, including roller conveyors and related machinery.
  • Install, adjust, and replace components such as gearboxes, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic parts, and other mechanical assemblies to restore or improve equipment performance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to reduce downtime, extend equipment life, and support safe and reliable plant operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, equipment drawings, manuals, and electrical schematics to perform accurate repairs and installations.
  • Fabricate equipment and parts as needed through light welding and machining, including MIG and stick welding when required.
  • Clean and prepare parts and equipment components to ensure proper fit, function, and reliability after maintenance or repair.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase, 480V electrical systems and components, including motors, drives, and control circuits, within your skill level.
  • Use variable frequency drives (VFDs) and support their installation, adjustment, and maintenance when applicable.
  • Perform conveyor maintenance, including inspection, adjustment, and repair of roller conveyors and related systems.
  • Document maintenance work as required and communicate equipment status and issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Work scheduled shifts and participate in rotating Saturday coverage, especially during busy seasons and around holidays, to support continuous plant operations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience performing mechanical repairs on industrial equipment, including roller conveyors and related systems.
  • Strong in pneumatics and hydraulics, including working with gearboxes and replacing motors and associated components.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in a high-volume, continuous-run plant.
  • Experience working with 3-phase, 480V electrical systems and performing basic to intermediate electrical maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, prints, manuals, and, when required, electrical schematics.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair of variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Ability to perform light welding and machining work, including MIG and stick welding, when needed.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues using a systematic, diagnostic approach.
  • Willingness and ability to work second or third shift schedules and to work Saturdays on a rotating basis, especially during busy seasons and holidays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with conveyor maintenance, particularly roller conveyors, is highly beneficial.
  • Experience to read and interpret electrical schematics is preferred for higher-level electrical candidates.
  • Heavy industrial environment with exposure to high-volume, continuous-run production operations.
  • Comfort working with MIG and stick welding equipment and basic machining tools for equipment and part fabrication.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit maintenance team.
