COOK (PART TIME)

Job Title Part‑Time Cook Location My Michigan Medical Center Saginaw, 800 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Schedule Part‑time. Days and hours may vary. Weekly schedule. Pay Pay Range: $16.00 to $20.00 per hour. Responsibilities Prepare high‑quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules. Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty; taste all prepared food items. Use established ticket‑collection procedures during service and maintain records from the area worked during service periods. Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness; store or discard excess food in accordance with safe food‑handling procedures. Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat; ensure food and supply items are stored per standards. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed. Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting as required. Assist in ordering and receiving all food and supplies as required. Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately. Attend in‑service and safety meetings. Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers. Perform job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures; follow HACCP standards. Commit personally to your own safety and that of others. Abide by all company policies and procedures, including: Use medium‑weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins, or cleaning a slicer. Use oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers, or steamtables. Use slip‑resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques. Qualifications Prior cooking experience preferred. Ability to perform essential functions of the position satisfactorily. Ability to work cooperatively with a team and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors. Ability to follow safety, sanitation, and food‑handling protocols.
