Psychologist (Adolescent Med - Eating Disorder)

Description The Division of Adolescent Medicine at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a full-time licensed Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary Outpatient Eating Disorders Program. This position is ideal for a clinician with specialized training in treating adolescents with eating disorders, and experience in Family-Based Treatment (FBT), who is passionate about providing evidence-based, compassionate care to children, adolescents, and their families. Our outpatient eating disorders program provides comprehensive, patient- and family-centered care for individuals with eating disorders across the continuum of recovery. We work collaboratively with medical providers, dietitians, psychiatrists, and therapists to deliver coordinated, high-quality treatment within a supportive hospital setting. Our ideal candidate will have specialized training and demonstrated experience in adolescent eating disorders and Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for eating disorders; experience treating children, adolescents, and families is preferred, and strong collaborative skills and commitment to evidence-based practice. Qualifications Minimum Education Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD), PhD in Developmental or Clinical Psychology or PsyD (Required) Minimum Work Experience 0 years Successful completion of postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology. (Required) 3 years experience as member of a multidisciplinary team and working with parents across ethnic boundaries; experience in a pediatric academic setting; evidence of participation in collaborative research within the realm of early childhood; interest in teaching/supervision. (Preferred) Required Skills/Knowledge Knowledge of current principles, methods and interventions for the delivery of psychological services including diagnosis and treatment in the area of expertise. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of psychological care. Ability to evaluate patient problems and develop a treatment plan independently. Ability to incorporate ethical concepts into patient care and discuss with patient, family, and other team members. Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise. Ability to maintain quality and safety standards. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and staying current in subspecialty. Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with legal and ethical standards for psychological care. Required Licenses and Certifications Licensed Psychologist in Washington, DC. Fully licensed and credentialed at Children's National Medical Center upon hire. (Required) Functional Accountabilities Commitment to World Class Care Provide clinical services for patients at Children's Hospital and other approved sites ethically, professionally, and timely. Provide oversight of the medical care team, manage direct patient care for a specified patient population; improve continuity of care, customer service, and community physician partnerships through timely completion of records and communication. Provide on-call services as determined by the Division Chief. Actively participate in family-centered care and communicate professionally and compassionately; refer patients to specialists and ancillary services as appropriate. Appropriately utilize the defined chain of command and escalation policies. Respond to team members and outside providers timely and respectfully; communicate clearly to trainees regarding patient updates and significant clinical changes, and encourage questions. Commitment to Advocacy Participate in CNMC's advocacy initiatives. Contribute scholarly effort to advancement of public policy for population-based pediatric health and wellbeing. Teach patients and families about treatment, prevention, and care enhancement techniques. Participate in specific health promotion, education, or prevention programs. Commitment to Research Conduct research of significant scientific value in clinical and translational science areas relevant to practice specialty. Participate in reviewing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. Publish in peer-reviewed, scientific, quality and management journals. Submit applications for grants or contracts for funding research projects. Participate in research committees, workshops, special interest groups, etc. Commitment to Education Participate in CNMC's medical education programs through learning activities with colleagues and trainees. Participate as appropriate in hospital/university-wide educational programs. Participate as appropriate in local, regional and national educational efforts. Provide timely feedback to trainees. Ensure adequate orientation for the care that trainees deliver. Supervise and train clinical professionals and students effectively. Commitment to Quality & Compliance Follow established bylaws, policies and procedures, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Adequately and promptly complete all clinical documentation as required by JCAHO, other regulatory bodies, Medical Staff bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies and procedures (including complete clinical charge documentation). Identify problems related to patient services and make recommendations for improvement. Cooperate and participate in development, implementation, and revision of policies affecting medical practice, judgment, and quality of care; participate as member of special care teams, medical staff and hospital committees. Review and prepare protocols for staff use; evaluate patient care according to adopted protocol and quality assurance program criteria; participate in evaluation of peers and support staff; acknowledge and report medical and/or other errors and participate in efforts to prevent them.
