Senior Linux Systems Engineer

Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading national-security technology organization in the Sarasota, FL area, for a Senior Linux Systems Engineer / Linux SME to own the health, performance, and security of mission-critical Red Hat Linux infrastructure. This is a hands-on senior role on a high-impact, cleared program.

Day to day, you will administer and harden enterprise Red Hat Linux environments, manage storage and virtualization, automate deployments, and troubleshoot across the full stack to keep mission systems running. It is a strong fit for a Linux expert who wants deep ownership of enterprise systems in a classified environment.

This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Administer, patch, and security-harden enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across a mission-critical environment
• Manage system provisioning and lifecycle using Red Hat Satellite, Kickstart, and RPM packaging
• Administer enterprise storage, including NetApp systems and NAS/SAN infrastructure
• Deploy and maintain virtualization with VMware ESXi and vCenter
• Automate configuration and deployment with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the full stack to keep mission systems available and performant

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and U.S. citizenship
• Active Security+ or CISSP certification
• 10+ years of Linux administration supporting enterprise infrastructure or mission systems
• Deep hands-on RHEL administration and troubleshooting expertise
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite, Kickstart, and RPM packaging
• Strong background in patching and security hardening
• Experience administering NetApp storage and NAS/SAN environments
• Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter
• Proficiency with Bash and Python scripting
• Configuration management experience with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Rancher or Kubernetes experience strongly preferred
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience preferred
