Title Speech Language Pathologist Grades K-4 Long term substitute - leave coverage. Start Date - 2/17/2026. Part-time possibilities. Qualifications Valid and appropriate Illinois licensure. Speech Language Pathologist endorsement required. Complete required professional development to retain certification. Successful completion of fingerprint-based criminal background check (IL State Police and FBI), sex offender and violent youth offender screening, and employment physical. Job Goal To facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing approved techniques to help reduce and or eliminate speech and language impairments. Feedback on students’ progress in regards to expectations and goals will be reported to students, parents and administration via parent/teacher conferences and annual IEP meetings. Responsibilities Identifies and provides appropriate services for children with communication disorders in the following areas: phonological/articulation disorders, stuttering/disfluency, voice disorders, language disorders, speech-language disorders from hearing impairments, speech-language disorders from organic anomalies. Maintains accurate and complete records required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement. Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments. Provides screening to identify children with speech and language delays at regular intervals and at specified levels. Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate. Provides appropriate individualized programs or therapy to meet individual students’ needs and correct existing speech and language delays. Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy techniques by providing suggestions for the student’s daily activities. Provides information, support and counseling to parents and families when appropriate. Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services. Compiles case history data on those cases where additional family history, health history, early developmental history, and environmental history are required. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. Encourages parental involvement in speech education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees. Ensures that student conduct and attendance conforms with the school standards and school district discipline policies. Utilizes current therapy methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates therapy based upon student learning styles. Applies knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Obtains knowledge of computer network system and software applications as needed. Organizes and coordinates work. Communicates effectively with students and parents. Engages in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others. Administers speech/language standardized tests as required. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal/assistant principal, district office administrators as designated by the superintendent. Adheres to a professional code of ethics which includes confidentiality of school related matters and loyalty to the school district.
