Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Banquet Manager, the Food and Beverage Operations Supervisor will provide the oversight needed to administer the food and beverage services operations for the Miramar Cultural CenterArtsPark. This position will provide oversight of subordinate food and beverage services and concessions personnel in the absence of the Food and Beverage Services Manager; assist with the planning and coordination with all banquet hall services and concessions; while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality and food safety are met. Must possess the ability to deliver any Food and Beverage service within the venue.
Essential Functions
Requires light physical effort including lifting up to 25 pounds. May require occasional crouching, kneeling, bending, or stooping. Frequent periods of standing or walking may be required.

Permanent part-time employees have the option of electing coverage from two plans: Health Network Only Plan (HMO) and the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
The City also offers Dental coverage through Delta Dental. Pension (Defined Benefit Plan) Permanent full-time employees are automatically enrolled in one of the City sponsored pension plans, which are funded by mandatory City and employee contributions. The Plan provides a guaranteed income, based on years of service, to its members upon retirement.

Job Summary

Essential Functions
- Approve and maintain accurate documentation of all booked activities, i.e., banquets and conventions where food and beverage services are required.
- Assist in creating and developing menus, beverage lists and prices, and select condiments, linens, uniforms, and décor used within the facility.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls for the Banquet Services Division within the Cultural Affairs Department.
- Schedules on-call event staff to support event needs and satisfy promotional offerings.
- Event planning oversight.
- Track and retain information that can readily be compiled to provide accurate data on venue usage and consumption.
- Place orders regarding beverage and bar needs to support operation.
- Maintain accurate records regarding order placement that are cognizant of budgetary mandates.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local competition and general industry trends.
- Maintain liaison with the General Manager of MCC in order to facilitate the proper handling of convention and banquet obligations.
- Manage relationships between contractor and support program operations.
- Develop new concepts that ensure the highest possible quality of food and beverage services.
- Recommend equipment, packages and alternate uses of venue to support and capitalize on building utilization goals.
- Work within the F/B department and respond to all Client needs during the sales process to include Initial inquiries - Issuing of Event Quotes- Cite Tours -and developing client relationships leading up to the day of Event.
- Required to be on cite during Events -After hours-Nights-Weekends-Holidays.
- Assist with the selection of all food and beverage products.
- Standardize portions served and control of food, beverage, and labor costs.
- Minimize legal liability and comply with the regulations of the alcohol beverage authority.
- Must possess the ability to work in the capacity of Chef and take control of all Culinary Aspects within the kitchen.
- Implement and enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen, dining, and/or concessions areas.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
- Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time.
- Ensures proper preparation and maintenance of Banquet Hall Services and concessions areas, budget, records and reports; submit purchase orders and check requests for approval following; maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints of customers and the general public.
- Assists with special events as assigned by the Special Events Division or other City Departments. Performs general administrative/office duties as required, including conducting and attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, entering computer data, copying and filing documents, faxing information, answering the telephone, assembling materials, etc.
- Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including billing invoices, client records, job applications, performance appraisals, billing statements, attendance reports, budget proposal, fliers, media releases, purchase orders, check requests, training reports, program evaluations, transportation requests, incident/accident reports, work orders, memos, correspondence, etc.
- Operates a variety of City owned equipment such as a computer, printer, typewriter, risograph, audio-visual equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, laminator, binder, etc.
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other City department heads and personnel, subordinates, sales representatives, clients, community organizations, corporations, school personnel, news media, and the general public.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned and/or required.
- An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field.
- At least four (4) years' experience in food and beverage, culinary or related professional hospitality industry; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential duties of the job.
- Must have a certification as a Certified Food Manager; supplemented by ServSafe
- and/or Food Handler credentials; or the ability to obtain within 60 days of Employment.
- Minimum of one-year supervisory experience.
- Must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions;
- Must have the ability to express direction both written and oral to others;
- Previous banquet hall-related experience, progressive management experience in food and beverage services operations, must understand importance of cost controls.
- Must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within ninety (90) days of hire; Employee shall be subject to annual background screening and a health physical biannually.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, high energy, excellent follow-up and follow through skills.
- Strong knowledge of Florida, Federal, and local employment laws.
- Ability to resolve conflict in a timely and efficient manner and recommend win-win strategies.
