The Tool and Die Technician supports manufacturing operations in Pensacola, Florida , by maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and assisting with the construction and improvement of dies, roll-form tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and related production equipment. This developmental skilled-trades role works under established procedures and with guidance from experienced technicians or engineering leadership. The Technician applies basic machining, blueprint-reading, measurement, mechanical, and problem-solving skills to support safe, reliable, high-volume production.


Job Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and assist with building dies, fixtures, jigs, roll-form tooling, gauges, and secondary-operation equipment.
  
  
• Respond promptly and professionally to production tooling needs and equipment breakdowns.
  
  
• Support toolroom and plant-floor priorities to minimize downtime and protect production schedules.
  
  
• Perform preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance on tooling and related equipment.
  
  
• Machine replacement and repair components from blueprints, sketches, models, or verbal descriptions.
  
  
• Operate manual toolroom equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and saws.
  
  
• Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions, tolerances, and tooling accuracy.
  
  
• Examine and troubleshoot dies, tools, jigs, fixtures, and production equipment.
  
  
• Identify root causes and support practical corrective actions.
  
  
• Make or support production-process adjustments to protect part quality and improve performance.
  
  
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, schematics, and work instructions.
  
  
• Document repairs, parts used, work completed, and improvement recommendations.
  
  
• Contribute ideas and solutions to extend tool life and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  
  
• Work safely, following lockout/tagout, housekeeping, quality, and plant operating requirements.
  
  
• Develop proficiency in tool and die fundamentals, machining practices, and measurement.
  
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve tooling and process issues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
  
  
• Technical school, apprenticeship coursework, machining training, military trade training, or tool and die certification preferred.
  
  
• Prior experience in machining, maintenance, fabrication, CNC operation, or a related skilled trade preferred.
  
  
• Basic knowledge of tool and die fundamentals and machining practices.
  
  
• Ability to read blueprints, sketches, and tolerance information.
  
  
• Ability to operate manual machine tools and use calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges safely.
  
  
• Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  
  
• Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred.
  
  
• Ability to use hand tools, test equipment, and computer-assisted equipment.
  
  
• Frequently bend, push, pull, reach, twist, stoop, squat, and traverse all areas of the plant.
  
  
• Lift materials, tooling, parts, or equipment periodically up to 75 pounds.
  
  
• Perform hands-on work in toolroom and production environments following PPE and safety procedures.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay Rate: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
  
  
• Schedule: 6:00am - 4:30pm Monday-Friday and Saturdays as needed
