Residential Manager

Job Title
The Residential Manager is responsible for assuring that programs are person centered and inclusive. Provides supervision and training to assigned staff. The Residential Manager is responsible for the compliance and adherence of the policies established by The Arc Eastern Connecticut as well as the regulated and administrative requirements as prescribed by the State of Connecticut.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The Residential Manager is responsible for:
- Ensuring an environment that encourages personal growth and empowerment of the residents of the home.
- Ensuring quality resident care, medical and programmatic.
- Preparing, implementing, and maintaining resident programs as outlined in the Individual Plan.
- Ensuring all required documentation for licensing and the agency is completed in a timely fashion.
- Maintaining resident files in a manner outlined by agency policy and licensing regulation.
- Interfacing with day programs, parents/guardians, DDS, and other agencies as appropriate.
- Ensuring compliance of DDS Licensing Regulation.
- Ensuring compliance of agency Policy and Procedure.
- Interviewing, training, supervising, and disciplining Direct Support Professionals.
- Maintaining certification in CPR and Medication Administration, passing medications.
- Monitoring medication administration by Life Skills instructors.
- Implementing, training, and following a behavior support plan that may include a restraint component.
- Ability to drive the agency vehicle.
- Coordinating and ensuring maintenance of agency property including the residence, lawn, vehicle, furnishing and appliances.
- Working with other managers in peer mentoring and peer quality assurance.
- Being available by mobile phone.
- All other tasks as required by the agency, resident needs or as directed by the CEO.
- Educating community officials about The Arc services.
- Collaborating with other programs to assure quality service.
- Providing technical support and training to staff.
- Maintaining car insurance coverage.
- Monitoring staff possession of valid driver's licenses.
- Attending staff meetings, management meeting, and in service meetings as required.

The Residential Manager is expected to:
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, their families, and providers.
- Respond to needs of participants, families, and providers in a timely and professional manner.
- Demonstrate a positive work ethic.
- Work with limited supervision.
- Advocate for and protect participants' rights in accordance with The Arc policies and procedures.
- Treat all individuals in an age-appropriate manner, with respect and dignity, and to encourage opportunities that promote choice.
- Maintain a mature and positive attitude when dealing with program participants, staff, families, the public, and outside representatives.
- Work with a spirit of cooperation with all departments.
- Carry out all job responsibilities in a professional manner.
- Maintain attendance. Adhere to policies on attendance, days of absence, and illness.
- Keep records, conversations, and correspondence concerning staff and program participants confidential.
Minimum Qualifications
The Residential Manager must have:
- High School Diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma) required. Bachelor's or Associate degree is preferred.
- Minimum of two years' supervisory experience in health/human service field and a minimum of three years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and training is acceptable.
- Residential manager must have a valid driver's license. He/she must keep this license up to date for the duration of their employment. Proficiency in Microsoft work suite is required.
Required Training
The Residential Manager will participate in:
- All DDS and The Arc Eastern Connecticut trainings as required by policy.
Physical Requirements
The Residential Manager must be able to:
- Lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Will be required to participate in lifts, transfers, and behavioral or physical intervention during unusual or emergency situations. May be exposed to risk of injury or exposure to occupational health hazards.
