About This Opportunity

This Interim Director of Pharmacy role oversees hospital and outpatient pharmacy operations at a 250-bed New York hospital. The Director will report to hospital administration and provide full-scope pharmacy leadership across clinical operations, regulatory compliance, staffing, budget management, and quality improvement. This is a meaningful executive pharmacy leadership role at a facility where your presence and your decisions will be felt across the entire pharmacy enterprise every single day.

Responsibilities

Provide strong and decisive interim pharmacy leadership across all inpatient hospital and outpatient pharmacy operations
Oversee clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial management of both pharmacy departments
Ensure full compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, New York State Board of Pharmacy, and all applicable regulatory standards
Collaborate with hospital administration, medical staff, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary care teams
Manage pharmacy staff scheduling, workflow, and daily operations across both settings
Support quality improvement initiatives and medication safety programs throughout both pharmacy operations
Represent the pharmacy department in relevant hospital committees and meetings
Provide stability and operational leadership during the interim period while maintaining the highest standards of patient care

Experience

Director of Pharmacy experience in an acute care inpatient hospital setting required
Experience overseeing both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy operations preferred
Strong regulatory compliance and Joint Commission experience required
Comfortable stepping into an interim leadership role and making an immediate impact
Experienced managing pharmacy teams and collaborating with hospital C-suite leadership

Skills

Strong executive pharmacy leadership and operational management skills
Effective communicator with hospital administration, medical staff, pharmacy teams and outpatient clinical staff

Qualifications

Active New York Pharmacist License required or willing to obtain
