Job Summary:

The Medical Technologist I uses a high degree of skill to prepare blood, urine and body fluid samples, and perform laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Registered Medical Technologist ASCP or equivalent

Education Required:

Associates Degree in Medical Technology

Experience Required:

One year

Performs and documents quality control according to departmental policies and takes corrective action if necessary. Keeps work areas clean and well-stocked with supplies and reagents.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries




weight




up to 50 pounds. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols with vision and hearing within normal range to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms. Work-related stress due to volume and time constraints with irregular working hours.
