Director of Product Management
Impacter Pathway
About Impacter
Impacter is transforming how K–12 school districts use data, professional learning, and non-academic measurement to improve educational outcomes.
We build AI-enabled SaaS solutions designed for real school environments, helping district and state education leaders turn complex student voice, durable skills, behavioral health, and school-culture data into actionable strategies that strengthen student belonging, readiness, wellness, and academic success.
Impacter is entering an important stage of growth, supported by significant state and national momentum.
National Assessment Leadership — ETS Partnership
As a primary skills-measurement partner for Educational Testing Service (ETS), Impacter supports durable skills and Portrait of a Graduate (PoG) assessment initiatives, including work connected to CAASPP in California and state frameworks in North Carolina, Washington, Missouri, and beyond.
Statewide Behavioral Health — $9M BHPM Initiative
In partnership with the Santa Clara County Office of Education and supported by a $9 million California Behavioral Health Commission grant, Impacter is helping co-develop California's K–12 Behavioral Health Performance Management system to measure student wellness, belonging, and related outcomes at scale.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Director of Product Management to build the leadership layer necessary to turn our expanding product portfolio, AI capabilities, partnerships, and market opportunities into a cohesive product strategy.
The Opportunity
This is a newly created leadership role with responsibility for bringing together Impacter's product portfolio, people, priorities, and roadmap under a unified product-management discipline.
The Director of Product Management will lead and develop a team of Product Managers and product professionals while working closely with executive leadership, engineering, AI development, design, customer-facing teams, and education partners.
We are looking for someone who has moved beyond managing an individual product or feature set and has experience answering the larger questions:
What should we build? Why should we build it? How do our products work together? How do we prioritize investment? And how do we translate that strategy into disciplined execution and measurable business and customer outcomes?
The successful candidate will combine portfolio-level strategic thinking, strong people leadership, technical fluency, and execution discipline .
What You Will Own
Product Portfolio Strategy & Roadmap
- Own and evolve a cohesive multi-product strategy and product roadmap aligned with Impacter's company objectives, customer needs, partnerships, and growth priorities
- Connect individual products, capabilities, data assets, and AI initiatives into an integrated product portfolio rather than a collection of independent features
- Translate company strategy into clear product priorities, investment decisions, sequencing, and measurable outcomes
- Establish frameworks for evaluating customer needs, market opportunities, technical feasibility, competitive differentiation, and commercial impact
- Partner with executive leadership to determine where Impacter should invest, accelerate, simplify, integrate, or discontinue product initiatives
- Maintain alignment between long-term product vision and near-term delivery
Product Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of mid-to-senior Product Managers and product professionals
- Create clear ownership, accountability, decision rights, expectations, and career development across the product organization
- Recruit and onboard additional product talent as the organization scales
- Establish a high-accountability product culture built around clarity, collaboration, customer impact, measurable results, and continuous improvement
- Implement consistent product-management operating rhythms, including planning, prioritization, roadmap reviews, product reviews, and retrospectives
- Build clear KPIs and product performance metrics that allow leadership to understand product adoption, engagement, outcomes, and business impact
AI Product Strategy & Technical Fluency
- Help shape Impacter's strategy for incorporating AI, LLMs, intelligent workflows, and agentic capabilities into its products
- Translate business and customer opportunities into practical requirements that engineering and AI teams can architect and execute
- Work comfortably with AI engineers, technical architects, developers, and external technical partners
- Understand the fundamentals of LLM integration, APIs, data workflows, prompt and model orchestration, agentic workflows, evaluation, reliability, and responsible AI deployment
- Balance innovation and speed with product quality, data privacy, security, reliability, and responsible use—particularly within K–12 environments
- Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and determine where they create meaningful customer value rather than introducing technology for technology's sake
Execution & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Turn product strategy into clear, executable roadmaps and operating plans
- Partner closely with engineering and technical leaders to balance scope, resources, timelines, dependencies, and technical constraints
- Create stronger coordination across Product, Engineering, AI, Sales, Customer Success, Implementation, and executive leadership
- Improve visibility into product priorities, progress, risks, dependencies, and decisions
- Establish disciplined processes for product discovery, requirements, prioritization, development, release, measurement, and iteration
- Represent the product organization in executive-level strategic discussions and major customer or partner conversations

- Experience developing portfolio-level product strategy and translating that strategy into executable roadmaps
- Proven success hiring, managing, mentoring, and developing Product Managers
- Experience creating product operating systems, KPIs, accountability structures, prioritization frameworks, and roadmap processes
- Strong SaaS product-management background with experience bringing complex technology products from concept through launch, adoption, and ongoing optimization

- Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams while translating technical capabilities into customer and business value
- Strong executive communication, decision-making, prioritization, and cross-functional leadership skills
- Experience building AI-enabled SaaS products using sensitive or complex datasets
Highly Valued
- Familiarity with education assessment, Portrait of a Graduate, durable skills, student voice, behavioral health, or whole-child measurement
- Experience operating in a growth-stage organization where processes and structures are still being built
- Experience balancing enterprise customer requirements with the need to maintain a scalable product platform
- Understanding of responsible AI, data privacy, security, and governance within education or other regulated environments
The Leadership Profile
